Ohio's Campaign for Jobs
Joining with other metropolitan chambers, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and other statewide business organizations, the Greater Cleveland Partnership participated in the launch of “Ohio’s Campaign for Jobs,” a grassroots initiative to secure passage of the major reforms contained in House Bill 153, dubbed the “Jobs Budget.”
Ohio’s Campaign for Jobs is funded by the Partnership for Ohio’s Future, a not-for-profit organization formed in 2006 to help educate the public about policies that lead to more jobs, greater opportunities and a higher quality of life for Ohioans. The GCP will be an active partner in this statewide campaign, which will build a strong grassroots network and media effort that will reach all corners of the state.
“Ohio’s Campaign for Jobs is critical to ensuring that the reforms included in the proposed budget are enacted,” said Carol Caruso, GCP’s senior vice president of advocacy. “The budget contains many of the reforms we proposed in “Redesigning Ohio: Transforming Government into a 21st Century Institution.” That report, published in December 2010 by Ohio’s eight metropolitan chambers and the Ohio Chamber, contained several recommendations that are reflected in the proposed budget.
House Bill 153 also contains several education reform measures that parallel work the GCP and other organizations/foundations have worked to achieve over the past year.
GCP members are encouraged to become actively engaged in this effort. We will be reaching out to members through our Web site, Facebook, Twitter (@GCPartnership) and blogs. You can connect to all of these avenues through this Web site.
