As 2011 dawns, it promises to be an exhilarating year for Ohio’s aerospace industry. Plans are under way for Ohio’s second "Ohio Aerospace Day, a statewide industry event that will connect Ohio’s aerospace, business aviation and defense sectors with the state’s legislative and executive branches.
As the community advocate for NASA Glenn Research Center, the Greater Cleveland Partnership is supporting the 2011 effort, which is being chaired by the Ohio Aerospace Institute and includes the NASA Glenn Research Center, the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Dayton Development Coalition, TechSolve and others.
Together we are building on existing synergies as we strive to increase awareness of Ohio’s aerospace capabilities, assets, and facilities and optimize economic development opportunities among the state’s commercial and industrial base.
Ohio Aerospace Day events will recognize significant aerospace-related accomplishments of Ohio-based companies, federal laboratories, and universities and strategize to advance economic progress across the state. While the day’s agenda has yet to be completed, events are expected to focus on public forums, education and business attraction through aerospace exhibits, networking opportunities, and industry speakers. Additionally, plans for a joint hearing and executive roundtable are currently being discussed.
Ohio Aerospace Day will be held on March 10, 2011 at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. For additional information, look for updates at www.ohioaerospaceday.com or at the GCP Web site here.
