The Ohio Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee just passed, along a party-line vote, HJR12, a resolution that would continue Ohio's successful Third Frontier Program. The substitute version of the resolution provides for $500 million for the program over four years. The resolution, as amended, also provides $100 million for the Ohio Public Works Commission for infrastructure.
Senate Democrats voted against the measure, largely because they felt it did not go far enough--supporting instead the $950 million amount that was included in the House-passed version of the resolution. The measure now moves to the Senate floor.
It is likely the House will not concur with Senate amendments--setting up a conference committee so that the two bodies can iron out their differences. Remember, this all has to be completed by Feb. 3 in order to be placed before Ohio voters in May. Stay tuned! State of the State is this afternoon!
