Ohio will retain one of its two members on the House Science and Technology Committee. Cong. Marcia Fudge (D, OH-11, Warrensville Heights) won handily this evening, and it is hoped that she will remain on this committee in the next session. Her work to support STEM education and Ohio’s NASA Glenn Research Center has been important to Ohio and our region.
Ohio’s other member on the committee, NASA Glenn supporter Cong. Charlie Wilson (D, OH-6, St. Clairsville) lost to Bill Johnston (R, Poland). This means that Ohio will be down one committee member, just as the delegation was establishing itself on the committee.
One thing is certain -- with the tonight’s dramatic changes in both the House and the Senate, seats will be open on the committees of jurisdiction on both sides of Capitol Hill.
