- Two of our favorite topics this time of year are football (yes, even in Cleveland) and politics. While the two topics are not exactly connected, they consume much of our attention every fall, especially with a major election on our doorstep.
However, in 2011 the NFL and our federal government could be headed for similar fates. That is, they both may be shut down. -

- Administrator Bolden to meet with Ohio Delegation today

- There continues to be a lot happening on the NASA front. The top item – this hour’s Ohio Delegation meeting with Administrator Bolden to discuss the agency’s "ongoing presence in the state of Ohio" and "Ohio’s future in America’s space program." The meeting is a result of Delegation letter that was signed by all 20 members in early December. The Greater Cleveland Partnership worked with several members of the delegation to make sure all members were aware of the letter’s circulation and to encourage them to sign on. We also engaged our network of other Ohio aerospace partners to reach out to their members and encourage signing on.

- With the announcement that the launch time has been pushed back to 10:30a, our delegation of folks have loaded the bus to catch our plane in Orlando. While disappointing, it demonstrates the level of care and caution that NASA takes even with experimental, unmanned vehicles. Our hope is that we can get checked in at the airport and then view it from there.

- OK, so we are back at Kennedy Space Center for a second try at launching the Ares I-X. The morning fog is clearing and there is light cloud cover. Most importantly there are plenty of openings to launch through and there's little ground wind, which was a factor in yesterday's delay.

- While taking the tour of Kennedy Space Center, we were able to tour the Operations and Control Building, which Carol referenced in a prior post. That’s where we saw something that made us all laugh – a Sherwin-Williams paint bucket. The GCP member company not only covers the earth, but has NASA covered too.

- Waiting for a launch can be a frustrating thing. First the weather, then the errant cargo ship, which made weather (clouds) a concern.
So Mission Control has reset the launch clock to T -4:00mins and we're waiting on a weather plane to circle back to determine the next opening. -

- At 12mins to launch, mission control announces 'no go' due to an errant cargo ship in the splash down danger zone.
Of all the uncontrolable issues, namely weather and an incoming front, we are now in a hold due to an ignored marine warning. -
