About the play:

The subject of the play has a strong connection to Cleveland history. A successful black man, who aspires to become his city's first black mayor, is faced with the question: "Can you build the future without destroying the past?"

Considered one of the great voices of the American theatre, Wilson wrote a "century cycle" of 10 plays, each focusing on a decade of the African American experience in the 20th century. "Radio Golf," the most contemporary of those plays, looks at the 1990s.

The Commission will offer several opportunities for our member organizations to attend the play and consider its messages within the context of the Commission’s objectives and mission. Our plans include, by request, unique outreach sessions for member organizations’ employee resource groups (ERGs), provided by Cleveland Play House. For information on the ERGs, contact Deborah Bridwell  (216) 592-2345).
