Cleveland Clinic Ideas for Tomorrow: Microsoft Chief Strategy Officer Craig Mundie
Greater Cleveland Partnership Investor-level members are invited to hear Microsoft’s chief research and strategy officer Craig Mundie speak at Cleveland Clinic’s Ideas of Tomorrow program on Wed., Jan. 5, 2011, at the InterContinental Hotel. He will discuss the future of computing, our changing relationship with computers, and their impact on society.
Mundie oversees one of the world’s largest computer-science research organizations and is responsible for the company’s long-term technology strategy. He has spent much of his career building start-ups in various fields, including supercomputing, consumer electronics, healthcare, education and robotics, and remains active in incubating new businesses.
For more than a decade, he also has served as Microsoft’s principal technology-policy liaison to the U.S. and foreign governments, with an emphasis on China, India and Russia. Another long-standing focus for Mundie is privacy, security and cyber-security. Based on this work, he serves on the U.S. National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and the Task Force on National Security in the Information Age, and in April 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
