Morning Conversation: Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted
- Greater Cleveland Partnership, 1240 Huron Road East, Cleveland, OH 44115
Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to join us for a morning conversation with Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.
Husted, Ohio’s chief elections officer, will update attendees on the upcoming November election. The discussion will include reference to key issues of interest to GCP members, such as proposed marijuana legalization, an amendment limiting constitutional monopolies, and legislative redistricting.
Since taking office in 2011, Husted has focused on ensuring uniform election rules, a statewide absentee ballot application mailing program, and setting expansive hours for in-person voting. As Secretary of State, Husted also serves as the government agency responsible for business filings in Ohio. Earlier this year, Husted was successful in working with former legislative colleagues to propose and advance a new Ohio law that reduces the costs of starting a business in the Buckeye State.
Prior to serving as Secretary of State, Husted spend 10 years in the Ohio General Assembly, including four years as Speaker of the Ohio House.
