Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to join us for a morning conversation with East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton, Jr.
Norton was elected mayor of the City of East Cleveland in November 2009 and was re-elected in 2013. As mayor, he is the city’s chief executive officer and responsible for police, fire, safety, streets, facilities, finance and economic development. Prior to becoming mayor, he served as the president of East Cleveland City Council and has held positions with Cuyahoga County government and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
During his time in office, he has faced some significant economic, social and community development issues, most notably addressing the fiscal health of East Cleveland and the possibility of a merger with the City of Cleveland.
Mayor Norton holds both a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Master's of Public Administration from Cleveland State University.
