Ninth Grade Career Experience Fair

GCP members are invited to be an exhibitor and provide interactive, career exposure experiences for Academies of Cleveland students at the Ninth Grade Career Experience Fair on Friday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CMSD East Professional Development Center, 1349 East 79th Street.

We hope you will join our efforts to build a strong talent pipeline in our region by providing your industry expertise at this event, which will  provide an avenue for all Academies of Cleveland high school freshmen to explore a breadth of career opportunities. Learn more.

Morning Conversation: State Rep. Fred Strahorn

Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to a Morning Conversation with House Minority Leader State Rep. Fred Strahorn (D-39). His district consists of much of Dayton, Ohio.

House Democratic Leader Strahorn returned to the Ohio House in 2013, after serving as state senator for the 5th district from 2009 to 2011 and senior political advisor to the Ohio Democratic party from 2011 to 2013.

He previously served citizens of the greater Dayton area as state representative from 2001 to 2008, including two years as House Minority Whip.

Morning Conversation: State Rep. Kirk Schuring

Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to a Morning Conversation with State Rep. Kirk Schuring (R-48).

Since joining the General Assembly in 1993, Representative Schuring has maintained a strong focus on core economic development issues.

Legislation he has championed includes the establishment of the Historic Preservation Tax Credit, Joint Economic Development Districts and Cooperative Economic Development Agreements to help further development in communities across the state.

Ideas for Tomorrow: Jim Free, deputy associate administrator for technical programs, NASA Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate

Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to attend the next program in the Cleveland Clinic Ideas for Tomorrow speaker series featuring GCP Board member Jim Free, former director, NASA John H. Glenn Research Center.

He was recently named deputy associate administrator for technical programs in the agency’s Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate in Washington, D.C.

Free joined NASA in 1990 as a propulsion engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. From 2008 to 2009, Free was the Orion Test and Verification Manager at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

He then returned to Glenn and served in a number of leadership positions, including chief of the Orion Projects Office and director of Space Flight Systems. In 2010, he was appointed the center’s deputy director and named director in January 2013. Click for details.
