Opportunity to Save on Electric Bills
On March 25, 2009, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and FirstEnergy came to an agreement on the electric rating structure for the FirstEnergy service territory including Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison, and The Illuminating Company. In May 2009, a wholesale electricity auction will be held to determine the standard service price for electric generation offered by these utilities. That ruling may enable COSE to once again offer participation in a new electric aggregation savings program for our members.
The savings that can be achieved by this group will be subject to the results of the wholesale auction. And, while uncertain, we believe it is likely that there will be an opportunity for our members to save money by grouping together through COSE. In order to prepare for this opportunity, COSE is currently determining our member aggregate electrical demand so that we may seek proposals to serve you.
If you are interested in being included in COSE’s aggregation, please submit a Letter of Authorization (pdf) and a full copy of a recent bill for each account that you have. Right now the scope of this program is limited to customers in the FirstEnergy service area.
Once this information has been gathered and the standard service price has been set by auction, we can determine whether an opportunity exists to save our members money. Providing this information will help us negotiate on your behalf, but it is not a commitment for your participation. In addition, the ability of COSE to actually offer a savings is contingent on the results of the wholesale auction.
Please return the Letter of Authorization and copy of your bill(s) to:
