The Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) has endorsed 1-888-OHIOCOMP as the preferred managed care organization for members participating in COSE’s Workers’ Compensation Premium Reduction Program.

Having completed a performance review of several MCOs for its endorsement, COSE’s Workers’ Compensation Task Team selected Cleveland-based 1-888-OHIOCOMP. COSE’s Board of Directors approved the endorsement Friday, March 17.

“1-888-OHIOCOMP’s customer service philosophy specifically designed to meet the needs of small businesses was a good fit for our 15,500 members,” said Lou Licata, President of Licata and Associates Co. LPA and Chairman of COSE. “Their strong, proactive approach to injury prevention and aggressive return to work programs provide opportunities for small businesses to save on their workers’ compensation medical-management services,” added Licata. Additionally, 1-888-OHIOCOMP provides significant discounts on medical services and offers a fully interactive Web site with access to case notes and treatment plans as well as custom reporting capabilities.

Upon receiving COSE’s endorsement, Jay Lucarelli, president of 1-888-OHIOCOMP, said “We are extremely honored to be endorsed by such a dynamic organization. 1-888-OHIOCOMP is committed to the COSE mission and to providing cost-saving services and support to its membership.”

Employers already enrolled with an MCO may only change their MCO during the open enrollment period held once every two years. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation announced the 2006 open enrollment period will be held May 1 – May 26.

COSE, the small business arm of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, serves as a one-stop resource for its members by providing: group-purchasing programs that reduce the cost of doing business; education and development programs for small- and mid-sized businesses; advocacy on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the business community; a wide range of resources focused on helping firms grow; and economic development partners that can address business concerns.
