Greater Cleveland Partnership Statement on Healthy Families
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Cleveland, August 21, 2008-Statement from Joe Roman, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, about the Healthy Families Act:
"The so called Healthy Families Act would make Ohio inhospitable to business by placing arduous requirements on employers and would hit small businesses - our key for economic growth - the hardest. Efforts seeking a compromise were simply not possible when regulation strikes at the core of an employers' ability to grow their business as they see fit. Ohio cannot afford to be the only state in the country with this kind of uncompetitive legislation.
"We anticipate a vigorous campaign season that will unite the business community in opposing the legislation and saving jobs in this state. We look forward to working with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor to defeat the legislation that is damaging to Ohio's economic well-being."
The Greater Cleveland Partnership, the primary voice for businesses in Greater Cleveland, seeks to create jobs and improve the economic vitality of the region.
