GCP members elect five new directors; Board adds three directors to Executive Committee

Cleveland, Ohio - March 10, 2009 - The Greater Cleveland Partnership membership confirmed the election of five new directors at the GCP's 2009 Annual Meeting held last week at the Hanna Theatre The GCP Board re-elected the current officers for another term and also named three new directors to the GCP Executive Committee. New Board members are:

  • Joseph A. Carrabba, president and CEO, Cliffs Natural Resources, Inc.
  • José C. Feliciano, chairman, Hispanic Roundtable of Cleveland
  • Daryl Z. Laisure, president and CEO, ZIN Technologies, Inc.
  • Kent C. Treu, market president, U.S. Bank Cleveland
  • Thomas K. Whitford, chief administrative officer, PNC Financial Services Group

New members elected to the GCP Executive Committee are Scott Chaikin, chairman and CEO, Dix and Eaton, Inc.; Lyle G. Ganske, Jones Day partner-in-charge, Cleveland office; and Thomas Whitford. Returning Executive Committee members include the re-elected officers: Chairman Henry L. Meyer III, chairman and CEO, KeyCorp; Vice Chairs Christopher M. Connor, chairman and CEO, The Sherwin-Williams Co., and Sandra Pianalto, president and CEO, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland; Corporate Secretary Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, president, Cuyahoga Community College; and Treasurer Robert C. Smith, president and CEO, Spero-Smith Investment Advisers, Inc.

Those re-elected to serve another term on the Executive Committee are: Keith Ashmus, partner, Frantz Ward LLP; William F. Christopher, executive vice president, Alcoa, and group president, Alcoa Engineered Products and Solutions; Jeanne Halladay Coughlin, president, The Coughlin Group; Alexander M. Cutler, chairman and CEO, Eaton Corp.; Terrance C.Z. Egger, president and publisher, The Plain Dealer Publishing Company; Louis J. Licata, president, Licata & Tourek; Frederick R. Nance, regional managing partner, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P.; Dominic L. Ozanne, president and CEO, Ozanne Construction Co., Inc.; and Tim Reynolds, president, Tribute, Inc..

Last December, the GCP Board adopted a resolution that "embraces board diversity as a calculated strategy to enhance organizational creativity, promote competitiveness throughout its markets and ensure responsive corporate action." The election of the 2009 Board and Executive Committee members "reaffirms our commitment to be representative and reflective of the diversity of the GCP's membership and the wide diversity of businesses and individuals in Northeast Ohio," said Meyer.
