Cleveland, Ohio, January 22, 2009 - The Greater Cleveland Partnership, working with its public-sector partners, has submitted a consensus list of Northeast Ohio priority projects for consideration in the federal economic stimulus package. The GCP worked with Build Up Greater Cleveland (BUGC)-a joint effort between the GCP and the Cleveland Engineering Society-with input from the City of Cleveland, the Cuyahoga County Engineer's office, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, the Greater Cleveland RTA, the Northeast Ohio Area Coordinating Agency (NOACA) and the Ohio Dept. of Transportation. While each organization may have its own priorities, all agree that these projects will benefit the Cleveland Plus region. Click here to see the full list.

The list also includes the proposed runway for the NASA Plum Brook Station in Erie County. This project could create jobs in all sectors of the economy from advanced technology and alternative energy to recreation and hospitality and attract high-tech companies to the area.

The GCP has presented these priorities to the offices of Gov. Ted Strickland, Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher and Ohio Speaker of the House Armond Budish, as well as the offices of Northeast Ohio Members of Congress. Discussions are continuing with federal and state lawmakers as this process moves forward. The GCP also will work to advance these priorities with GCP Board member Ronald B. Richard, president and CEO of The Cleveland Foundation, who has been asked by Gov. Strickland to help coordinate development of the master list of project priorities that the state will submit to the federal government on behalf of its regions and communities.

The Greater Cleveland Partnership , (GCP), the primary voice for businesses in Greater Cleveland, seeks to create jobs and improve the economic vitality of the region. On behalf of its more than 17,000 members, the GCP advocates with one voice; advances small business success; accelerates economic inclusion; builds a high-impact, sustainable economic development system; changes the face of Cleveland; strengthens global connections; and initiates a demand-driven talent system. The GCP is a founder and proud supporter of the Cleveland Plus marketing campaign.
