Greater Cleveland Partnership names new government advocacy VP

Cleveland, Ohio—The Greater Cleveland Partnership has named Martin R. McGann as its new vice president of state and local government advocacy. Since 2007, he has been director of government relations for Cleveland Clinic, where he served as the lead for federal healthcare reform implementation.
From 2004-05, McGann was the Clinic’s director of government program development. In that role, he secured more than $20 million in congressional earmark funding for research and capital priorities. He also has served as a fund-raising consultant for Cuyahoga County and congressional campaigns and was a deputy statewide field director during the 2002 Ohio gubernatorial campaign.
His community involvement includes serving as a board member of MidTown Cleveland and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. In 2007, he was recognized by Crain’s Cleveland Business as a recipient of its “Twenty in Their 20s” award. He also has completed the Cleveland Clinic Center for Leadership and Learning’s Executive Leadership Series training.
“Martin has a demonstrated, successful track record in government relations, coupled with significant campaign experience, ” said GCP President and CEO Joe Roman. “He will be a strong asset in helping guide our advocacy engagement with local and state governments.”
McGann holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and philosophy from Ohio Wesleyan University. In 2009, he received a J.D. degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
