Commission on Economic Inclusion endorses Cleveland schools levy

Cleveland, Ohio—The Board of Advisors of the Commission on Economic Inclusion, a program of the Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP), has voted to endorse Issue 107, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District levy, which will appear on the ballot in November.

“The Commission offers its full support to the passage of the 15-mill tax levy in the City of Cleveland in order to drive the transformation of the education delivery system for all of the city’s children,” said Commission Co-chairs Lyle Ganske, Jones Day Partner-in-Charge, Midwest Region, and Eddie Taylor, president, Taylor Oswald, in a statement announcing the endorsement.

“Mayor Jackson’s plan to emphasize investment in quality schools, coupled with the needed state legislative changes passed by the state legislature in June and signed into law by Governor Kasich in July, deserve the full support of the business community. The proposed levy, essential to the implementation of the Mayor’s plan, also receives our full support.”

The Commission joins the GCP, its parent organization, and COSE, the GCP’s small business partner, as a supporter of Issue 107. The GCP is urging the business community to help communicate the importance of the levy’s passage and has provided numerous resources for employers.
