Deb Janik joined the Greater Cleveland Partnership as Sr. Vice President, Real Estate and Business Development in October 2005. Janik’s duties at GCP include management of all GCP development programs including business development, economic development and real estate development activities. Janik also serves as primary liaison for GCPs regional development efforts - working in tandem with TeamNEO the private sector-led regional economic development organization and the regions public sector entities.
Janik continues to provide lead staff support for the public private partnership efforts on the Flats East Bank redevelopment project and other catalytic real estate projects of scale. Additional duties include cultivating development activities within the core city and inner ring suburbs, working with GCP’s Cleveland Development Advisors group, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, University Circle Inc. and numerous private and not-for profit development organizations. In 2006, Janik was appointed by Governor Bob Taft to serve on the State of Ohio Eminent Domain Task Force.
In addition to Physical Development Janik also oversees GCP’s Business Development programs designed to identify and address the needs of Greater Cleveland’s business employers including retention, expansion and attraction efforts and workforce development issues.
Prior to joining GCP Janik served as Vice President of Regional Development for the Cleveland Cuyahoga County Port Authority and chief of staff and chief development officer for Mayor Jane L. Campbell at the city of Cleveland.
Janik has dedicated her entire career to working in Cleveland. She has more than 18 years of public, private, and not-for-profit experience. She is a 1987 graduate of Kent State University and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with a concentration in real-estate. She resides in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland.
