Mr. McCarthy is the Cleveland Subdivision Manager and Midwest Transportation Manager for Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM). He is a professional engineer and certified planner with 23 years experience in the development of corridor and planning studies and highway designs, multi-faceted bridge / highway projects and railroad grade separations. Mr. McCarthy has a Master’s of Business Administration with a specialty in Systems Theory and is a former adjunct faculty member in the Civil Engineering Department at Cleveland State University. He has managed or provided major contributions to some of the largest and most challenging preliminary highway designs/studies in Ohio, including the I-271/I-480 interchange and dual-dual lanes, SR 43 (Aurora Road), the TRU-422 Corridor Study, SR 82 (Strongsville), the Portsmouth Bypass, the Ohio Turnpike Commission’s Great Lakes/Mid-Atlantic Corridor Study, the Cleveland Innerbelt and the LOR-20 (Center Ridge Road) PDP study in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Mr. McCarthy has overseen dozens of transportation planning and design projects as Project Manager and Principal and presented on multiple occasions at the Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC). Mr. McCarthy has delivered numerous corridor studies and final highway and bridge designs, including minor and major studies in conformance with ODOT's PDP process.
