The Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) formally supports Substitute Senate Bill 58 (SB58), a legislative proposal aimed at reforming Ohio’s energy efficiency and alternative energy mandates.
In doing so, we recognize the drastic changes in Ohio’s energy landscape since Substitute Senate Bill 221 was passed over five years ago.
Our members are well-informed energy customers. They understand the importance of energy efficiency programs and the need to diversify generation sources. < /p>
However, most importantly, businesses need a reliable energy product at predictable and competitive rates. Left unaddressed, the growing energy mandate benchmarks threaten to drive up costs for all ratepayers.
GCP argues SB58 can, and should be improved, but the status quo of current law is not sustainable or supportable.
