GCP urges immediate action to improve Lake Erie's water quality
This week’s segment of the “GCP Insight” video series examines actions needed to address water-quality challenges facing Lake Erie, arguably Cleveland’s greatest asset.
The Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Vice President of Advocacy Nick Gattozzi discusses how the GCP is urging timely post-winter dredging of the lake by the Army Corps of Engineers.
He also comments on the need to find a long-term action to ensure that obstacles to freighter traffic on the Cuyahoga River and the lake are removed.
In Columbus, the Ohio House and the Ohio Senate have passed separate bills to address the lake’s water-quality issues. GCP Senior Director of Advocacy Alesha Washington observes that efforts will now focus on determining components of the final bill that will be presented to the Governor for signature.
