A family-owned business that achieves enough success to occupy a strong position in the middle market is rightfully a source of pride. While prevailing thinking may be that the company's leadership will remain among family who can sustain that success, it's not realistic.
A new blog by Rob Carey, a features writer and National Center for the Middle Market
contributor, offers suggestions on how family-owned companies can hire one or more outside executives to help preserve the value of the family's financial stake in the operation over the long term including the qualities to be focused on during the search process.

MBDA Cleveland client InterChez featured
in national annual report
, a Hispanic-owned business and s a client of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center Cleveland
, is featured as a success story in the 2013 MBDA Annual Performance Report from the U. S. Department of Commerce.
The MBDA Cleveland Center, which is operated by the Commission on Economic Inclusion, a program of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, connected InterChez with KeyBank and secured a $1 million line of credit.
The Center also sponsored participation by GCP Board member and InterChez CEO Sharlene Ramos-Chesnes in Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business Minority Executive Program from which she graduated in 2013.
Entering its 13th year in business, InterChez employs more than 40 full-time employees in Ohio and Michigan.

Strategic insights, best practices for CIOs
Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to the 15th annual NEOSA CIO Symposium, the longest-running gathering of IT executives in Northeast Ohio . The program will be held Thursday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Independence.
