Connecting and focusing Greater Cleveland's private-sector resources to build a stronger region

The Greater Cleveland Partnership helps Build-up Greater Cleveland

Since its inception in 1983, the Build-Up Greater Cleveland (BUGC) organization has played a critical role in intelligently leveraging and managing the resources of the region in order to maintain and upgrade our vital infrastructure. Compared with major entertainment sites and other large developments, Cleveland’s infrastructure is often an “invisible asset” that quietly helps make Greater Cleveland productive, efficient, safe, and environmentally secure. Thanks to the efforts of key BUGC partners, the  roads, bridges, waterways, wastewater facilities, public transit, and other infrastructure assets of Greater Cleveland work hard to make the region work well. The Greater Cleveland Partnership has played a central role in creating and managing BUGC so that Northeast Ohio’s spending on infrastructure is efficient and effective.

This ten minute video provides a snapshot of the efforts of GCP and its BUGC partners: the Cleveland Engineering Society, NOACA, the City of Cleveland, The Cuyahoga County Engineer’s office, the Regional Transit Authority, The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Port of Cleveland.

Carol Caruso, Sr. Vice-President for Advocacy, The Greater Cleveland Partnership, says that “BUGC is unique; I don’t think there’s another organization like BUGC in the nation, let alone Ohio, that is quite like BUGC” when it comes to helping a region maximize its investment in infrastructure.
