The Greater Cleveland Partnership's advocacy professionals understand the governmental/legislative processes and how the ultimate results can impact business. It is in this space that GCP works to educate and activate elected officials and thought leaders to create and shape government policy to advance our region.
Our Advocacy Team works with political leaders to create the conditions that will accelerate this resurgence and maximize the economic development potential for all Greater Clevelanders. They also interact with the business community to identify priority issues for the private sector.
2017/2018 Public Policy Agenda
GCP and its partner organizations represent the interests of more than 8,000 businesses in Northeast Ohio. We share a common vision for accelerating economic growth and increasing regional prosperity.
While we are concerned about the unprecedented economic challenges that will unfold throughout the next two years, we are confident that our Public Policy Agenda, representing the “one voice” of our members, will help elected officials and public-sector leaders marshal the resources to respond effectively to these challenges.
GCP staff members engaged the GCP Government Affairs Council, members, and partners to create the Public Policy Agenda. Areas of specific focus include:

- Competitive tax policy that will allow the region to invest in what is most important to Northeast Ohio’s growth.
- Navigating a changing federal and state landscape that will have an impact on major health care policy—such as the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid expansion—that businesses and the region’s health care industry rely on.
- Strengthening key economic development tools—such as federal and state New Market Tax Credits and the federal EB-5 program—that advance transformational physical development in the City of Cleveland.
- Core business issues such as energy policy, human resources and labor, and federal and state rules and regulations that impact business costs.
