More than 30 Northeast Ohio employers gathered at the Brecksville Community Center on April 10 for the eighth annual Linking IT Talent Job Fair—a collaboration between Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Business Development Team, OHTec, RITE and the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE).

This free event gave participating companies access to over 200 resumes and the chance to meet with 160 current students, recent graduates and professionals to discuss IT internship and job opportunities. It was part of Tech Week 2019, OHTec’s annual initiative to promote and support Northeast Ohio’s IT industry.

The City of Brecksville provided space for the event in their community center. Mayor Jerry Hruby of Brecksville and OEC’s Senior Marketing Communications Specialist, Jennifer Luu Weppelman, welcomed the group to kick-off the event.

The Linking IT Talent Job Fair has been a yearly event for several Cleveland area companies looking to address their hiring needs. Tiffany Smith with Dolbey Systems, a veteran exhibitor, said, “We’ve been attending since 2015, and every spring, we anticipate the Linking IT Talent Career Fair, it is so exciting to see so much diverse, enthusiastic talent in one place! It’s a Tech Week must for us!”

This year’s event was also well attended by some first-time exhibitors such as Exodus Integrity Services. "This was my first OHTec event and I was really impressed by everything I saw. The event was well organized and the traffic we had at the table was exceptional. We were pleased with the level of talent that we spoke with as we look to fill some critical roles for our clients. We will be back next year," said Brent Heyneman, VP of Managed Services at Exodus.

The high attendance of companies and job seekers showcases the growing tech sector in our region. Nicole Ponstingle COO of Pandata, runner-up for OhTec’s “Most Promising StartUp" at the 2019 Best of Tech Awards held earlier during Tech Week, said, "The data science field is in a growth mode, as is Pandata. Finding the talent for our consulting firm can prove to be challenging because we are constantly in need. I was pleasantly surprised to find attendees with the skill sets we are looking for at the Linking IT Talent Job Fair. In fact, as a result of participating, I have interviews set up with a handful of attendees and a pipeline for future talent. We will be back next year."

The collaboration of partners would like to thank all exhibiting companies and job seekers who attended and made this year’s Linking IT Talent Job Fair such a success.
