Volunteer for True2U
A mentoring opportunity to strengthen our local talent pipeline
and help CMSD students build career awareness
Recognizing that career readiness starts early, an innovative program—True2U—a collaboration among the Cleveland Foundation’s youth development program, MyCom, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the Neighborhood Leadership Institute provides eighth-graders with support to explore their purpose, identify their strengths and set personal goals for success.
This exploration and mentoring program links community capital to students and schools. Its objective is to begin raising career awareness for CMSD students on the cusp of entering high school.
Mentors are trained on a structured curriculum and work in teams of two with small groups of students supported by a CMSD key teacher once a month.
How to volunteer
We invite business professionals to volunteer as mentors for the program for the 2017-2018 school year. To download the application for True2U, please click here. Once your application is completed, send it by email to Angela Finding at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applicants will be interviewed by the Greater Cleveland Partnership or Neighborhood Leadership personnel. The interview will be to learn more about the potential mentors and their interest in the True2U program.
Once the interview is completed, successful candidates will be referred to Neighborhood Leadership Institute to complete a required background check. The cost of the background check will be covered by True2U.
