Tax Reform in the Spotlight

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a plan to overhaul the tax code.  Relatively shortly thereafter, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee approved a separate tax plan - on a party-line vote of 14-12 - sending their measure to the full Senate.

The Senate version would repeal the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that most individuals purchase health insurance, while the House legislation is silent on the issue. Click here to see how the two tax packages differ.


Members of the Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) believe a thoughtful, balanced, and competitive tax environment is critical to the success of our economy and that any reforms made must be all-inclusive and benefit all sectors of the business community.

The final results are far from a finished product. If the Senate is able to pass a bill, the House and Senate are expected to go to a conference committee to reach a compromise.  

The GCP will continue to represent our members’ interests throughout the debate and advocate for comprehensive federal tax and entitlement program reform.

Team NEO's Quarterly Economic Review Key Findings

Team NEO released the quarterly Cleveland Plus Economic Review today. While manufacturing employment has declined, productivity is projected to grow in the next 10 years and continues to be a driving force in Northeast Ohio’s economy. Employment growth in healthcare; headquarters; and professional, scientific and technical services has helped offset the loss in manufacturing employment. Overall, employment is projected to grow 5.5% while GRP is projected to grow 14% from 2017 to 2027.

Many employers are challenged when it comes to attracting and retaining young talent. Please join us for two upcoming roundtable sessions that will feature local employers and hiring managers who are succeeding at recruiting, retaining and engaging young talent. 

Attracting Millennial Talent:  Can it Be Done in 140 Characters or Less?

Recruiting and talent attraction used to be as simple as going to a few college career fairs or placing a job opening in the want ads in the local newspaper.  But in the age of the internet and social media, employees and employers have hundreds of ways to connect.  How does a company stand out as a place where a young worker would be happy to start a career?  On Tuesday, December 5th from 8 to 10 a.m., hear from local companies that have mastered the art of connecting with millennials to get the word out about their companies.  Also hear from one younger worker who will share what tools worked to attract him to his company and what other channels create a disconnect.
