Find out why Cleveland is ready and well-positioned to host the 2016 Republican National Convention in a guest column posted today on Cleveland.com.
“For RNC 2016, Cleveland is ready for its close-up” by GCP President Joe Roman and Positively Cleveland President Dave Gilbert, says in part:
"For Cleveland, winning the GOP convention is not just about the huge economic benefit it would bring; it is about re-introducing Cleveland to America and the world.
"Not that the economic benefit is anything to sneeze at -- we're talking 40,000 visitors coming for almost a week. The city of Tampa estimated an economic boom of $427 million when they hosted the GOP in 2012.
"That's a lot of money, but it is about more than that. Sure, $427 million would be a well-deserved windfall for our city, but it is time for people to see the new Cleveland, and the benefit of that would be invaluable.
"How many opportunities do you have to change how your city is perceived? Cleveland has undergone a transformation because of smart investments, pride and lots of hard work. We want everyone to know about it."
