Attendees of the twelfth annual Greater Cleveland Partnership Inclusion Conference will explore how diversity, equity and inclusion fuels and contributes to the workforce of the future, future leadership needs, future public health crises, and the future of diversity and inclusion in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (i4.0).

This year, in order to provide our attendees with the best experience in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, our Inclusion Conference will be virtual.

Ken has worked at the Center for Employment Opportunities for the past two years assisting individuals with any criminal conviction on their path to permanent, full-time employment. In addition to serving Returning Citizens directly, he has presented to Chambers of Commerce and professional organizations on the benefits and challenges of hiring employees with convictions.

Ken has consulted on projects ranging from local technological innovations in the Criminal Justice system to the forthcoming curriculum on hiring candidates with convictions through the Society for Human Resource Management.

Jennifer Brown is an award-winning entrepreneur, dynamic speaker and diversity and inclusion expert. She is the Founder and CEO of Jennifer Brown Consulting (JBC), a strategic leadership and diversity consulting firm that coaches business leaders worldwide on critical issues of talent and workplace strategy. Brown is a passionate advocate for social equality who delves into the “business case for diversity” as she helps businesses foster healthier, more productive workplace cultures.

With over a decade of experience consulting to Fortune 500 companies including Toyota, Starbucks, and Capital One, Brown is a highly sought-after expert source on changing demographics, specific communities of identity including women, people of color, LGBT individuals, generations like Millennials, and the role of male leaders in change efforts.

Brown has appeared in leading media outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal, and on Fox News. Courtney DeOreo

Senior Director Tech Talent / Executive Director RITE, Greater Cleveland Partnership

Ms. DeOreo is the Executive Director, RITE and Senior Director, Tech Talent for the Greater Cleveland Partnership.  RITE is the leading industry-driven IT workforce alliance in Northeast Ohio – and the only organization in the region focused exclusively on employer-led IT talent development.  Since its inception in 2009, RITE has been advancing a regional vision for building a more diverse, highly skilled IT workforce.  Under her leadership, RITE has mobilized more than 120 employers, built more than 30 strategic alliances and partnerships from Lorain to Cleveland to Akron, and through a unique and innovative portfolio of programs has helped to inspire more than 6,000 students to consider IT careers in Northeast Ohio.

Actively engaged in the regional education, workforce and economic development community including a member of ConxusNEO’s Tech Sector Partnership, Northeast Ohio’s Cybersecurity Consortium, NEO’s Workforce Data Alignment Group, the Talent Workstream of the Cleveland Innovation Project, and Talent Development Council.  Her network extends state-wide and nationally to a broader national network to colleagues and innovators in the tech talent development space from Colorado to Boston.  Courtney serves as the current facilitator of TECNA’s national Community of Practice focused on workforce development.

Ms. DeOreo distinctions include 2019 Women Living STEM recognition, Leadership Cleveland Class of 2008, Crain’s Women of Note in 2006, Crain’s Cleveland Business 40 under 40 in 2001, and the Charter Class of Cleveland Bridge Builders in 1999.  She was inducted into her alma mater Archbishop Alter High School Hall of Fame in2010 and graduated Miami University with a B. A. in 1988.  She is a proud resident of the City of Cleveland where she lives with her husband Dave and their daughter Emilie.

ShibaniShibani Faehnle

Director of Business Growth and Development Services, Greater Cleveland Partnership

Shibani Faehnle is a Director of Business Growth and Development Services at the Greater Cleveland Partnership. She is passionate about helping Northeast Ohio business leaders achieve their growth objectives by connecting them with strategic resources and partners.

Prior to the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Shibani enjoyed a 13-year career at KeyBank in various roles that included Business Development Strategy, Interim Intern Program Manager and Vice President with the Private Loan Management Group of KeyBanc Capital Markets, where she focused on the Gaming, Travel & Leisure, Healthy & Active, Food & Wine, Technology Services, and Waste Management sectors.

Shibani is the founder of BombayTaxiBoutique.com, a lifestyle blog and online jewelry boutique, which was awarded Editor’s Choice for Best Online Boutique by Cleveland Magazine’s Best of Cleveland 2016. She was also honored as Crain’s Cleveland Business 40 Under 40 in 2016. Shibani serves on the Economics Advisory Council for the Farmer School of Business at Miami University, and serves on the Communications Committee for ACG Cleveland. She is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and women’s leadership. She is a native of Mumbai, India and has called Cleveland home since 2004.

Shibani holds a B.S. in Business Economics from Miami University (Ohio). In 2003, she received a M.A. in Economics, also from Miami University. Shibani graduated from The Cleveland Leadership Center’s Bridge Builders Program in 2015 and is currently pursuing an Economic Development Finance Professional Certification Program with the National Development Council (NDC).

Brian HallBrain Hall

Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Equity and Inclusion, Greater Cleveland Partnership

Brian Hall serves as the Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Equity and Inclusion for the Greater Cleveland Partnership. In addition to his duties at the Greater Cleveland Partnership, where he was a founding board member and 5-year Co-Chair of its Commission on Economic Inclusion, he is also a small business owner and investor. For over 30 years his companies have provided contract staffing intra and inter plant logistics, warehouse services, parking and distribution solutions. They served many Fortune 100 customers across America.

Brian earned a BBA from the University of Cincinnati and an EMBA from Baldwin Wallace University. He additionally completed four annual executive tracks in business management at The Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College and a certificate of Strategic Management with Georgetown University. He has served on several civic boards and task forces in the areas of health, economic development, youth education, music arts and culture. A director and member of the strategy and compensation committees and the Chair of the governance and community benefits committees of University Hospital Health Systems; a Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee for the University of Cincinnati Foundation; and the chairman of the R.E.A.L. Re-Entry committee at Mount Zion Church where he also is a trustee.

Among his many activities he founded the Tremont Elementary School Advisory group in 1991, which mentored 14 young males through high school. He was a founding member and 10-year president of the Presidents' Council LLC a collaboration of CEO's focused on economic growth and wealth creation in the African American community. He is the current Chair of the Black Young Presidents Organization Network; an international network of black CEO's who members are YPO or YPO Gold. Brian has received numerous awards including the R. H. Adler Community Leadership Award from the American Jewish Committee, Volunteer of the Year by Leadership Cleveland; The Man of the Year from Cleveland Public Theater; Father of the Year by American Diabetes Association and Supplier of the Year for Community service by Ford Motor Company. He has also been named as one of the 100 influential leaders in Northeast Ohio by Cleveland Magazine and as part of the Power Pack 100 by Crain’s Cleveland Business. He was inducted into Inside Business Magazine, Hall of Fame in 2010.


Elise James Decruise

Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Marcus Thomas LLC 

Elise is an Award-Winning Global Learning & Development Professional and Diversity &  Inclusion Practitioner with over 15 years of global experience in the marketing, strategy,  design and delivery of learning solutions and services for clients, partners and industry  professionals within the workforce, workplace and marketplace. 

She was recognized by the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Magazine for Strategy and  Innovation for the launch of NMI (New Marketing Institute), recipient of Industry awards  recognizing excellence in education and featured in Forbes Magazine as one of the top  female leaders to watch in the technology space who is committed to innovation,  education and diversity and inclusion.  

In her new role as the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Marcus Thomas, Elise will scale  and build on efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workforce, workplace  and marketplace and will provide critical guidance and leadership to Marcus Thomas’s  multicultural marketing efforts.

Prior to joining Marcus Thomas in July, she led Global Multicultural Marketing and Inclusion initiatives at MediaMath. She helped MediaMath think about and better position diversity and inclusion within the workforce, workplace and marketplace, and inspired others to do the same. Previously, Elise founded the award-winning New Marketing Institute (NMI) at MediaMath. In this role, Elise oversaw internal and external training initiatives, certification, enterprise education and global program development.  

Elise is the L&D Strategic Advisor for GoCoach and maintains an active presence on Boards and Advisory Committees such as the Startup Institute, NYC Tech Talent Pipeline, IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) - Diversity & Inclusion Task force, ATD (American Society of Training & Development) 2019 Program Advisory Committee and the ATD Forum Advisory group.  

Elise holds a B.A., in Communications, PR & Advertising along with an M.S., in Instructional Leadership and Business Communications from Robert Morris University. As a former Division- One Student Athlete (led the nation in rebounding), who made a successful transition after sports into the corporate world, she is committed to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. She resides in Bergen County New Jersey with her family.

Basheer Jones

Ward 7 Councilman Ward 7

Councilman Basheer Jones was elected in November 2017, becoming the city’s first Muslim council representative. He represents an area which includes the historic Hough district, as well as the St. Clair-Superior, Midtown and Asia Town neighborhoods. Councilman Jones serves on four council committees – Development Planning & Sustainability, Health, Safety and Workforce & Community Benefits.

Councilman Jones, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Cleveland with his family when he was a child. He graduated Cum Laude in 2006 from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga., earning a degree in African-American studies.

Councilman Jones has been recognized nationally for his grass-roots activism relating to issues of social justice and empowering those who are left out of the American Dream. During the 2008 presidential election, Councilman Jones hosted rallies in Cleveland for Barack Obama and organized a youth voter registration drive in the city.

He has received various awards for his work, including the “Emerging Leader” award from U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge and the Urban League’s “Distinguished Men” award. Councilman Jones is a member of the NAACP and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Councilman Jones was the youngest news talk radio show host when he was on "Basheer Jones and Company" on WERE AM/1490 News Talk Radio and Street Soldiers on WENZ FM/107.9 until 2010.

He has also been a guest correspondent on CNN, MSNBC, and CSPAN. He also authored a book, entitled, “I’ll Speak for Change.” And Councilman Jones is the creator of the Be the Change Leadership Series, in which he holds leadership and character development workshops within various school systems throughout the state of Ohio.

Maurice JonesMaurice A. Jones

President & CEO, LISC

Maurice A. Jones was appointed CEO and President of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) in September of 2016. LISC is one of the country’s largest organizations supporting projects to revitalize communities and catalyze economic opportunity for residents. Prior to joining LISC, Maurice was the Secretary of Commerce and Trade for the Commonwealth of Virginia where his primary job was to utilize Virginia’s assets to solidify its position as the preeminent place to live, work and conduct business.

Maurice previously served as Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from April 2012 through January 2014. As the second most senior official at HUD, Maurice managed the Department's day-to-day operations, the annual operating budget of $40 billion and the agency's 8,900 employees.

Before his appointment at HUD, Maurice was President of Pilot Media, the largest print and digital organization in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He joined Landmark Media Enterprises, owner of Pilot Media, in 2005, serving as Vice President of the Landmark Publishing Group. In 2006, he became the Vice President and General Manager of Pilot Media, and in 2008 he became President and Publisher of The Virginian-Pilot.

Maurice also served as the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Social Services and Deputy Chief of Staff to then-Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner. Other positions include: Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the U.S. Treasury Department, Legal Counsel to the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund and Director of the Fund during the Clinton Administration, Associate Attorney at Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia, and Partner at Venture Philanthropy Partners.

Maurice received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hampden-Sydney College and attended Oxford University in England on a Rhodes Scholarship, where he received a Master of Philosophy in International Relations. He later received a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia.

LoganEric Logan

Principal – Industrial Manufacturing Strategy; Operations CoE Lead, KPMG LLP

Eric Logan currently serves as a Principal in the Industrial Manufacturing Strategy practice and Lead of the Operations Center of Excellence at KPMG, LLP. In his role, he serves C-suite clients at Fortune 200 companies in cost management, supply chain optimization, procurement, and operating strategy. Additionally, he serves as the firm’s US Lead for their global Industry 4.0 initiative. He is also the Partner sponsor and lead of KPMG’s Cleveland Inclusion and Diversity Council, as well as the leadof the Diversity Council for the Columbus Hub, which includes the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville offices.

Prior to working at KPMG, Eric held the position of Vice President and General Manager of Special Metals Welding Products Company in Newton, North Carolina, a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC). Previously at PCC, he held positions of Vice President of Commercial at the PCC Revert Group, General Manager of McWilliams Forge Company, Division Manager at Huntington Alloys, and Vice President of Business Strategy for PCC Forged Products. Prior to PCC he was an Executive Advisor for international strategy firm, Booz and Company. He has also worked in various positions in metallurgy, quality, and operations in the steel industry for LTV Steel, International Steel Group, and NorthStarBHP Steel.

Throughout his career and life, Eric has also maintained a dedication to community and civic service. In Cleveland he currently sits on the boards of Team NEO, Esperanza, Inc. and the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center. Nationally, he serves on the National Advisory Council of “A Better Chance, Inc.,” a program that helps place underprivileged minority students into top notch secondary schools. Eric has previously been recognized by A Better Chance, as a “Rising Star” and Crain’s Cleveland Business as a member of the 2011 “40 under 40” class. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science degree in materials science and engineering from Stanford University in Stanford, California and a Masters of business administration degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Marlon Moore

Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Huntington Bank

Marlon Moore is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Huntington Bank and responsible for the strategic execution of their diversity and inclusion strategy. Under his leadership, the diversity team is works to create an inclusive culture at Huntington; one that allows colleagues and suppliers to feel engaged and empowered. In 2019, Huntington was recognized by Forbes as one of the top employers for Diversity and Women. 

Marlon previously served as Vice President of Supplier Diversity for KeyBank where he supported the execution of their engagement strategy for diverse businesses. Early in his career he served as Corporate Outreach Manager for the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council where he had responsibility for innovation, corporate outreach, and program development.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Arts theatre, Central Ohio Transit Authority, and was appointed to the Central State University Board of Trustees by Ohio Governor John Kasich.  He is also an Adjunct Professor at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. 

Marlon earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Virginia State University, his master’s degree in Psychology (Diversity Management) from Cleveland State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  


Peter Moore

President/CEO, Ohio Provider Resource Association (OPRA)

Peter (Pete) Moore became the President/CEO of the Ohio Provider Resource Association (OPRA) in May of 2019.  OPRA is a trade association that advocates for providers of day and residential developmental disability services across the Ohio. 

Pete has 20 years of experience in working with people with developmental disabilities. He has had many roles during his career including: Activities Therapist, QMRP, and Director of Vocational Services at Tiffin Developmental Center; Director of Residential Services for the Hancock County Board of Developmental Disabilities; Behavior Support and Regional Consultant for the State of Ohio's Department of Developmental Disabilities; an independent consultant; Chief of staff for the Ohio Association of County Boards Serving People with Developmental Disabilities (OACB), while at OACB Pete was I/DD Committee Chair for the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors.  After his time at OACB he became the Administrator for Mount Aloysius an Intermediate Care Facility serving people with developmental disabilities. Throughout his career, Pete has been respected for his common sense approach to work cultures and working with people with developmental disabilities. He has provided training and technical support for many different programs and professionals across the State of Ohio and across the United States.

Pete is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters in Counseling from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, where he was also a football coach for 10 years. He is married to Deb and has three kids, Warren (Wojo), Rilee, and Ava.


Dr. Pamela Newkirk, PhD

Professor, New York University

Pamela Newkirk, PhD, is a journalist, New York University professor, author and multi-disciplinary scholar whose work examines contemporary and historical depictions of African Americans in popular culture. Her latest book Diversity Inc.: The Failed Promise of Billion-Dollar Business, exposes the decades-old practices and attitudes that have made diversity a lucrative business while they have failed to realize diversity. The book was included on TIME magazine’s “Must-Read” books of 2019. Her previous book, Spectacle: The Astonishing Life of Ota Benga, was awarded the 2016 NAACP Image Award and was selected as a New York Times Editor’s Choice and named a Best Book of 2015 by NPR,

The San Francisco Chronicle and The Boston Globe. Dr. Newkirk is also the author of Within the Veil: Black Journalists, White Media which won the National Press Club Award for Media Criticism. Prior to joining the journalism faculty at New York University, she was a daily reporter at four news organizations including New York Newsday where she was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting team. She holds journalism degrees from Columbia and New York universities, and a PhD from Columbia University. Her articles have appeared in a number of leading publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and TIME magazine.

Autumn Russell

Autumn Russell

Executive Director of Early College, Early Career (ECEC) program, MAGNET

Autumn R. Russell has spent the last 15 years developing successful strategies to sustain education initiatives, by focusing on the intersection of programs and systems. Her experience includes work with local school districts, community colleges, universities, and state level administration while developing lasting partnerships with business, industry, and communitybased organizations.   
As the Executive Director of MAGNET’s Early College, Early Career (ECEC) program, a staterecognized youth apprenticeship model, Autumn facilitates collaboration between manufacturers, local school districts, and community colleges to grow the manufacturing workforce and help inner-city and rural high school students connect to rewarding careers in manufacturing. To date, Russell’s team of six, which currently works with 10 high schools, has placed 80 paid interns with 11 employers across 3 counties in Northeast Ohio. 
Autumn holds a bachelors in organizational development; master’s in education administration and leadership, and is a certified career pathways leader and program planner. She was recognized in Crain’s Cleveland Business Magazine as a Notable Woman in STEM, and as a Crain’s 40 under 40 honoree in 2019. She is also a recipient of the Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Commission on Economic Inclusion’s Champion Award, and named a Bank of America Neighborhood Builder. 
She resides in Solon, Ohio with her husband and three beautiful daughters.  


Howard Pincham

Chief Information Officer, Koinonia

Howard Pincham is Chief Information Officer for Koinonia, Northeast Ohio’s leading agency dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Pincham oversees technological growth and innovation initiatives, enhancing services for both people with IDD and staff. Before joining Koinonia, he worked with The Centers for Families and Children, Hyland Software, and AT& T Services.  In addition to being a hands-on problem solver, Pincham is known as a leader who spearheads efforts to capitalize on advanced technology in various IT environments. A graduate of Youngstown State University, Pincham is certified solution expert for Microsoft Cloud Platform and Infrastructure and a certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).


Lisa Smedley

Costume Designer and Fashion Stylist, Fashion Styling by Lisa

Lisa Smedley, Costume Designer and Fashion Stylist, has built an impressive reputation from styling, creating images for legendary celebrities, as well as creating characters for commercials, TV series and movies. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, it was her move to California that propelled a whirlwind of working with some of the greatest artists in the entertainment industry. Lisa became known for cultivating styles unique to each clients’ personality while adding a hint of her own quirks. Her acute attention to detail marks her signature touch.

While completing her studies in Fashion Merchandising, Lisa became a fashion consultant for Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. While at Saks Fifth, she was referred to the Crystal Agency and began assistant styling and later styling independently as one of the most sought after Fashion stylists.  Lisa has styled for artists such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men , Color Me Badd , as well as award shows, the Grammy’s , American Music Awards , Billboard and MTV Awards. Lisa has evolved in her career working on numerous commercials ,TV series, and movies such as “Gotti” with John Travolta,  “Uncle Drew”,  “Poms” starring Dianne Keaton, “Greenleaf”, and “Varsity Blues just to name a few.  

Now with over 20 years of experience in the film and TV industry, plus work with multiple projects allowing her to work with A-list actors , legendary recording artists, Lisa continues to have the same drive and passion she did 20 years ago. When not on a project, Lisa likes to spend time reading, going to art museums, and watching classic films. 


Leah Smiley, CDE

Leah Smiley, CDE, is the founder and President of the Society for Diversity Inc. Terry sTerry Szmagala

Vice President, Public & Community Affairs and Corporate Communications, Eaton

Terry Szmagala is senior vice president, Public & Community Affairs and Corporate Communications for Eaton, a power management company. Terry is responsible for representing Eaton with governments at the federal, state and local level, overseeing the company’s community involvement and corporate contributions programs, as well as the global Corporate Communications and Marketing Communications teams.

Terry joined Eaton in 2007 as chief counsel for the Fluid Power Group.  In 2009 he transitioned into the role of vice president and chief counsel of the Industrial Sector and most recently served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel for Eaton. Prior to joining Eaton, Terry worked as group counsel with Avery Dennison Corporation and as an attorney with Squire Sanders & Dempsey in its Cleveland, Ohio; Washington, D.C.; and Kyiv, Ukraine offices. 

He has served in leadership roles in many community organizations, and is currently serving on the boards of the United Way of Greater Cleveland, University Circle, Inc., and St. Ignatius High School. Terry holds a B.A. degree from the University of Virginia and a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Jason Wright

Jason Wright

Partner, McKinsey & Company

Jason Wright is a Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Washington DC office. His work focuses on modernizing higher education institutions, government agencies, and industrial companies through large scale transformations. Jason leads McKinsey’s SG&A Operations practice and brings deep expertise in reducing cost and improving the effectiveness of administrative operations to the CHROs, CFOs, and CEOs he counsels. Jason also co-leads McKinsey’s global inclusion strategy and recently developed McKinsey’s anti-racism strategy. Over the last 3 years he has led the Black Economic Institute, a research entity that analyzes the racial wealth gap.

Jason is also on the Board of Trustees at Union Theological Seminary where he is helping the institution better equip a changing student body that is more focused on community organizing and social entrepreneurship than traditional ministry. Prior to joining McKinsey, he was a running back in the National Football League, finishing his athletic career as a team captain and labor union leader during the 2011 NFL Lockout. He has a B.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University where he was an Academic All-American student athlete, a two time All-Big Ten football selection, and the president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He received his M.B.A. in Operations and Finance, with honors, from the University of Chicago- Booth School of Business.
