Every two years, the governor submits the operating and capital budgets to the Ohio General Assembly. No legislation is more important to the operation of state government than the bills that compose the budget. As we near the next biennial budget process, join us for a GCP Virtual Morning Conversation with Kimberly Murnieks, State Director of the Office of Budget and Management.
Director Murnieks was appointed to her current post in 2019 and serves as the chief financial officer under the leadership of Governor DeWine. She oversees an office that develops, coordinates and monitors the individual budgets of state agencies, provides the Governor and administration with policy analysis, and reviews all financial transactions made with public funds.
Prior to OBM, Murnieks served as Chief Operating Officer for the Ohio Attorney General's Office and as executive director with the Ohio Department of Education. Murnieks is a summa cum laude graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor's in Political Science, a graduate of The Ohio State University's John Glenn School of Public Affairs with a Master of Public Administration and is an American Mensa member.
