The Cuyahoga County Council is the legislative body of Cuyahoga County government, made up of 11 elected representatives from across the County. The Council is responsible for making policy decisions that allow County government to function effectively. Council President Jones is a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga County and was previously selected to serve a two-year term as Vice-President of the Council in 2015, a post he served in until being selected as County Council President in 2021. He was among the founding members of County Council when it was first established in 2010.
Council President Jones represents Council District 8, which includes portions of the city of Cleveland, along with Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, and Newburgh Heights. Currently, he serves as the Director of Community Relations for the Pernel Jones and Sons Funeral home. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institutes and received a Bachelor of Science from the University Maryland.
