GCP hosted a series of member conversations with several state and federal elected officials in the last several weeks. Last week, Senator Rob Portman joined GCP for a conversation with members around federal response efforts to COVID-19. Senator Portman was recently selected by President Trump to serve on the Opening Up America Again Congressional Group. The purpose of the group is to provide counsel to the president on reopening America in the wake of COVID-19. The President has convened two bipartisan dialogues with members of the group to discuss the next chapter of the COVID-19 recovery. In addition to Senator Portman, the following from Ohio are a part of the group:
- Representative Jim Jordan, R-OH
- Representative Anthony Gonzalez, R-OH
- Representative Marcia Fudge, D-OH
- Representative Warren Davidson, R-OH
- Representative Steve Chabot, R-OH
Also last week, Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof, State Senator Matt Huffman, and State Senator Matt Dolan joined GCP and COSE members for a conversation to discuss emergency legislation the Ohio General Assembly passed in response to COVID-19. The conversation also served as an opportunity for state elected leaders to learn more about the challenges the business community is experiencing. GCP was particularly supportive of provisions in state legislation that expanded eligibility for unemployment compensation and aligning the state tax filing deadline with federal deadlines.
GCP is grateful to PNC for sponsoring these conversations. Learn about upcoming conversations.
