CLEVELAND, Ohio, October 8, 2020 – Cast Nylons Co., Ltd., North America’s largest cast nylon manufacturer, announced today that it will expand its operations in Willoughby, Ohio, purchasing and refurbishing a pair of buildings adjacent to their current location. The new space will allow the company to expand their product portfolio of 100% American-manufactured cast nylon products, making them more competitive vs. international competition in the North American market and enhancing their ability to serve their customer base.

The project will allow the company to expand its workforce over the next three years in addition to retaining the existing employees at the Willoughby location.

“We are committed to Greater Cleveland and excited about our company’s future,” stated Jack Thorp, CEO and President of Cast Nylons. “2020 has been an uncertain time for many businesses but, with the guidance and support of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the City of Willoughby, and JobsOhio, we realized the best business case for us was to expand our operations right here in Northeast Ohio to better serve our customers and continue to invest in the community that has been critical to our success.”

“GCP appreciates Cast Nylons’ investment in Lake County,” said Joe Roman, President and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Partnership. “We are pleased to support the long-term growth of another strong local company in our manufacturing industry, which continues to be the cornerstone of Greater Cleveland’s economy.”

Led by Scott Harrington, Senior Manager for Business Growth & Development, the Greater Cleveland Partnership, worked collaboratively with partners at the Lake County Port & Economic Development Authority, the city of Willoughby, Team NEO and JobsOhio to ensure the company’s expansion took place in Northeast Ohio.

“Cast Nylons has been a part of the Willoughby fabric for over 40 years and is a leading producer of cast nylon products in North America,” said Willoughby Mayor Robert Fiala. “We are very pleased to be able to help incentivize Cast Nylons’ proposed expansion project. Job creation is key to our city’s success, and we are committed to remaining an attractive place for businesses to locate and grow.”

“Northeast Ohio is an advanced manufacturing powerhouse, making up 20% of our region’s GRP with more than 270,000 workers, including more than 18,000 in the chemicals sector,” said Bill Koehler, Team NEO CEO. “Cast Nylons’ expansion is an example of how manufacturers are growing with talent from this region. We look forward to working with our local partners and JobsOhio to ensure Cast Nylons’ continued success.”
